At the top of our list of blessings is, of course, our children. We are missing Jake and Sarah and pray they had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Texas. We are so thankful for our lively, loving little guys!
This year, we made a Thanks Giving Tree - a beautiful printable project from Ann Voskamp's A Holy Experience website. Each leaf had a verse prompting our hearts to be thankful...and on the back, we wrote the things we were thankful for.
Jack did the first leaf. When I asked him, "What can we thank God for?" he immediately said, "Jesus!" And, he wanted to test out his new writing skills. The "J" is the last letter and is curving backward, but he knows Jesus and Jack begin withe the same letter.
Even though we had typical warm, muggy weather nearing 90 degrees, we were able to make it seem a little fall-like with our Thanksgiving table spread!
The boys each colored some Thanksgiving coloring sheets. Jack was very proud of this coloring job - and was devastated when little brother was caught scribbling on it!
We had our special friends, the Kempers family (missionaries from Holland), over to join us. Their boys - Nathan and Ezra - while older than our boys - are wonderful playmates. They played and romped the whole evening - and other than a baseball bat to Jack's forehead and a head-plant on the tile floor when George tripped, all was well!
Josh lead the meal off with a reading about how the holiday of Thanksgiving came to be - something our Dutch friends were very interested in. Then we read Psalm 111 - a psalm of thanksgiving - and thanked the Lord for His many blessings. (Can I just say that having a godly husband who leads our family with a loving, humble heart is just about the best blessing anyone could ask for?!)
The big American-style feast was a hit...especially the turkey. And the pies - one cherry and one Hawaiian pumpkin pie - were a great end to the meal. Joan wanted to take a picture of the pies!
We missed our family and friends scattered across the United States (and in many places around the world) and we pray you all have much to be thankful for!

Can I just say, that first picture of the boys hugging is quite possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen. I stared at it for like 3 minutes before scrolling down to the rest of the post. LOVE THEM!!! (and Georgie's combed hair...AH! get's me everytime!) Kam, I love how you can even make a hot, muggy Thanksgiving so festive and beautiful! I particularly like the place cards :) Glad you all had a great time together...although you were missed here terribly! Love you!!
