Our Jack is Six!!

Six years ago, I became a mother.  Jack burst into our world after 24 hours of labor, stealing our hearts and challenging us as parents from his first day in the world!  The Lord has used him to shape me and teach me...forcing me to rely more on Him for guidance in how to love and raise this little boy who is just packed full of energy and intensity!
Jack is about as all-American boy as you can get.  He is tremendously athletic, intensely physical, loves all things outdoors and dirty and creature-oriented.  But he is also very tender-hearted and perceptive.  He enjoys helping out and doing chores - either with Mom in the kitchen or in the yard with Dad.  (Or in winter, shoveling snow with Grandma!)  He just likes to be BUSY!
He is always thinking up new ways to express his physical nature.  A favorite is piling pillows in the living room and racing down the hallway to take a flying leap.  He wants me to take various photo shots of it so he can compare how high he jumped each time!
His intensity extends to his creative projects.  He loves painting and creating things.  He really enjoys "writing" and illustrating his own little books - on things like planes or boats or trains, after we've read about them from library books.
He loves science and nature and loves when we take school outside.
He can spend hours playing Legos or Playmobil, or setting up train tracks or Hotwheels ramps.  He and George are best buddies.
Jack is a great big brother - very protective of Joe and watchful as baby tries to climb up stairs or go into the laundry room.  He carries Joe back to the living room and tries to find things for him to play with.
Jack's enthusiasm for life is just contagious!
Jack really loves animals.  He loves to check out books about animals at the library, watch Wild Kratts (stay tuned for his Wild Kratt birthday party post!) or see and interact with animals up close.  His deepest wish is to have a dog of his own.  Maybe one day!
We thank the Lord for the gift of our Jack.  He is such a special boy!  It is hard to remember life without him in it.  We pray that he grows in wisdom and knowledge and stature in this coming year as a six year old!
