Capitol Reef National Park

We live in beautiful place.  We have lived in some pretty amazing places before (i.e. Kaua'i and the Caribbean), but we've never lived in a place quite like southwestern Utah.

We are within an hour's drive to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon - and there are countless other national and state parks within a few hours drive.  We hope to explore them all in the next few months!

Josh had an extended time off in March, so we headed about 3 hours northeast of where we live to Capitol Reef National Park.  Wow!  The views were just amazing!  It was cold and windy, but breathtakingly beautiful.  The drama of the landscape immediately made us think of God's hand sculpting and forming each mountain range and valley.

Along with the amazing natural sites, we got to visit an old pioneer homestead in the park grounds (where there was DELICIOUS pie and homemade relishes!), we stopped to see an old one-room school house and we spotted several different ancient petroglyphs left by Native Americans.  It was a great experience!

I'll leave you with photos from our trip!  (Just think about the beauty you could see if you came for a visit!!!)

(Toby ran an errand with me into town to get some "vittles" while Josh took these photos of the other three boys.)

We got to see a herd of Bighorn sheep!  It was awesome!  We even saw them effortlessly climb up the cliffs!

We drove through the Grand Staircase park on the way back home - another kind of beauty!  This area is directly connected to the same rock formations at the Grand Canyon!

We LOVE Utah!!!  :-)
