Summer's End

Yesterday, we tearfully said goodbye to Jake and Sarah as they returned to their mom. It was so hard to let them go and Jack woke up this morning looking at the bedroom door, waiting for one of them to come through it as they did every morning this summer. But, we hope that we filled them up with lots of love and happy summer memories to head home with and we all look forward to our next time together as a family.

Here are a few last images of our summer days with Jake and Sarah. You'll notice that Sarah finished her quilt...it turned out beautifully and she was thrilled with it! Jake and I also make a Coconut cake from scratch (after seeing a "Good Eats" show with Alton Brown about how to make one the old-fashioned way...using two coconuts) which was WAY MORE WORK than I had anticipated, but which turned out to be the most exquisite tasting cake any of us had every eaten! I finally got a shot of Jack's two top front teeth coming in and some other adorable shots of him. He is growing every day....he is an avid crawler now at nine months old and is constantly trying to walk on his own. He can stand for a few seconds without holding onto anything and we know that it is only a matter of time before he does take his first step. He is just too anxious to be a big boy!

Please keep Jake and Sarah in your prayers. Jake is starting middle school this year, which will be full of new challenges. They are not looking forward to spending so much time away from their baby brother, so we'll do all we can to keep in touch by phone, letters and web cam!
