We took a trip to Dayton, Ohio, where Josh was born. We stopped for lunch at the Cracker Barrell, where Jack loved sitting in the small rockers outside!
We visited Aunt Maddy and Uncle Greg (the kids got to put up a tent in their back yard, roast marshmallows, play Wii Fit and generally have a fun time) and great-aunt Nancy and great-uncle Randy and drove around to see the home Josh was born into, his grandmother's home, Terry's childhood home and others. Sadly, they aren't in great shape...but it was neat to see. On Tuesday, we went to the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It was a great experience. The kids loved it - Jake especially loved seeing the SR-71 Blackbird aircraft that he had been learning about on the Discovery Channel. Jack saw his first movie - the IMAX production of "The Magic of Flight". He was mesmorized for a few moments before drifting off to sleep in Mommy's arms! (He also fell asleep in Daddy's arms while we were walking around the World War II section of the museum.)

Jack has been doing wonderful new things as he grows and learns. He is a big boy...way off the charts as far as his length and height...even for a nine month old! He already fills out his new big-boy car seat...but he loves the view he gets from it! While we were at Aunt Maddy's house, he pulled himself up into the standing position on a chair and had fun playing with Grandma on
the floor. He also amazes us at each mealtime. When I put him in his high chair, he fusses for a bit, anxious to get to his food. But, when we all join hands to pray and bow our heads, he becomes completely quiet and reverent during the entire prayer! The
minute we start eating, he is back to "talking"! Also...in the bathtub, he has learned how to pull out the rubber bath plug. Last night, he tried to put the plug back in, but it fell into the drain upside down. He kind of grunted and flipped the plug right side up, put his finger through the tiny silver ring and placed it in the drain the right way. I was stunned by his attention to this small detail!
Jack is ready for the road trip to Dayton!!!
Today we took the kids to the Knox County Fair. The kids rode a few rides, we saw lots of horses and even a baby bison, kangaroo and baby alpacas at the petting zoo. We had some good fair treats, too...lemondade, chocolate malts, powdered-surgar-covered waffles and Josh had a fried PB&J! Jack was delighted with the prize Sarah won when she played a game...the big green ball!
