An End to Our Great Summer Together
Well, the official part of our summer has come to an end....Jake and Sarah left this week and the house seems all too quiet and empty without them. But we had such a wonderful two months with them, packed with fun moments and memories, I know that we will all hold on to those as the school year begins and the kids start into their yearly routine. Jack misses his big brother and sister, who were so great with him all summer long - even when he got into their toys and messed things up a bit! Jack wants to be a big boy like Jake - so, Jake amused him by putting him on his four-wheeler and pushing him around without the motor on. Jack loved it!!!
One of our favorite places to end the week (or the summer) is a small, family-owned soft serve ice cream place about 20 minutes from the farm. Jake was able to get a large cone each week in exchange for letting us trim his flowing locks early in the summer!
On our last day together, we decided to take a picture of the three kids around my belly. I am now 30 weeks pregnant and George is a DEFINITE presence in our lives already with all of his movements and hiccups! As we were trying to get a good shot, Jack thought Sarah was leaning in a little too closely, lashed out with his hand, knocked her glasses off as I was saying, "No Jack...no hitting your sister!" and Josh happened to get the moment perfectly on camera. This photo made us laugh so hard for minutes afterward and Jake and Sarah both deemed it "blog-worthy"...so maybe you can get a laugh out of it as well! :-)
And here is the real picture - one for George to cherish, knowing his three siblings anxiously awaited his arrival! The next time we are together, George will be a little bundle of joy in our arms, instead of in my womb! We can't wait!
We are so thankful for our time with Jake and Sarah. They are both great kids and we miss them so much when they aren't with us. Please keep them in your prayers as they begin their school year. Jake took the parting especially hard, since he and Jack were inseperable the whole summer. I'm thankful for those bonds, but know it makes the parting that much more difficult.
