It is almost unbelievable to us that George has been with us outside of the womb as long as he was inside of it! What a great ninth month this has been for our little guy!
However....he is no longer "Gentle George". He has officially become "Curious George" and keeps us all on our toes!
We won't have his nine month check up until next week, so the stats will have to wait. He is wearing mostly twelve month clothes with a few 18 month outfits.
He has seven teeth with another about to burst through any moment. The teeth appeared in a very asymmetrical pattern...not in pairs like what typically happens. He's used those new chompers, unfortunately, to chomp on Mama quite a bit. At first, the firm "No!" and a light pop on the mouth evoked pitiful tears from him. But now, he stares at me, smiles and closes/squints his eyes as tightly as I can...so naughty!
As one of our montage songs indicates...George is on the move and "gone" are the days of motionless babyhood. He is now crawling efficiently on all fours (though occasionally reverts back to his low Army crawl when on hard surfaces), he pulls himself up to standing on anything he can get his hands on and has even taken steps, with support. He is more than eager to join his big siblings in all of their activities!
But this adventurous side takes its toll on his parents. We had a few scary moments this month. Because he is so inquisitive and mobile, he finds any and everything left on the ground by any big person. One day, this happened to be a frozen grape dropped by Jack. Thankfully, Josh noticed right away and picked him up just as he started to choke on the dangerous fruit - and in perfect EMT style, pounded his back and dislodged the grape. We all lost a few years of our lives in that moment. He's also received lots of bruises on his face from "face planting" and even crawled up into the freezer door and got his little hands frozen to the bottom shelf. Yikes!
He has said, "Mama" a handful of times, he nods his head when asked a question or when listening to music, he has become adept at eating foods with his fingers and drinking water from a cup and still loves sweet potatoes more than any other food (aside from Cheerios!)
But...with all of this advancement, he is still our little guy, loves to breast feed and fall asleep with his Mama and Daddy and brings all of us heaps of joy.
Happy Nine Months Big Boy!
