Celebrating George

Time to post an update on our newest three year old!  Our little guy has had a bit of adjusting to do in the last few weeks, but is doing a pretty good job of being a loving big brother and relinquishing his role as the baby of the family.  (He does occasionally break our hearts by saying in tears, "I'm not a big boy, I'm a tiny boy!" when he is having a hard day.) 

George brings delight not only to our whole family, but to everyone who meets him.  Those big brown eyes, dimples and smiley personality are just too much to resist.  He has a natural humor about him that is really fun to watch.  His imagination is amazing - he can play and entertain himself for hours with his trains or cars, giving them each voices and personalities.  One day in the car, with no toys around, I heard him "playing" and turned to see him making people out of his fingers, having them chat back and forth.  He is never bored...always content to find something to play with.  He loves to read books together, dig in the dirt and collect sticks and leaves wherever we go.  We keep thinking he is short (since Jack is so tall for his age), but  his measurements are above average.  (We have his annual check up on Friday so we'll get the stats then.)  He has a loving and grateful attitude and says, "Thank you, Grandma,"  (or Mommy, or Daddy or Aunt Gentry) whenever he sits down for a meal...totally unprompted.  We are still working on potty training - it has been a challenge, but we know he has had lots of changes in his life and we are trying to encourage him the best we can.  His favorite foods are hamburgers with fries and ketchup (you can't forget the ketchup), bread and nuts and anything he can nibble off of Mommy's plate. 

We had a really fun day celebrating his birthday, with Aunt Gentry here for a visit from Arizona!  we went bowling at the Air Force Base bowling alley - it was the first time for both Jack and George.  Jack took to it immediately.  George was enthusiastic in the beginning until he slipped and his forehead hit the bowling ball before it rolled down the lane.  That put a damper on things.  But he was ready to try with the kid ramp a little later.  His favorite part of the day was the hamburger lunch.  We came home for a family party with Angry Birds decorations and a cake.  He was so excited!  Each present was opened with such obvious glee...his voice rising in anticipation as he opened it then a squeal and a hug - every present got hugged! 

We are so grateful for our Georgie.  He has grown so much in the past year and is a priceless part of our family.  Thank you, Lord, for our boy!  Bless him in this next year and surround him with your love as he continues to learn to be a good big brother!
