This weekend as part of the continued celebration of Jack's birthday, we took a ride on the Polar Express! In Connersville, Indiana there is an historic railway, originally built in 1830. Every year as Christmas approaches they run the Polar Express...which was perfect for us since we are a train-loving family and Jack received the book and movie for his birthday.
The boys wore their pajamas, Grandma Barb came along, we were treated to Christmas music, hot chocolate and cookies (the boys were disappointed that there was no dancing and flipping to the "Hot Chocolate" song!), and we arrived at the "North Pole" - a small village decorated with lights and Christmas displays. Santa boarded the train and visited with each child - except for George, who wanted nothing to do with him - and the kids all received a special bell engraved with "Polar Express, 2013". Even though we don't do Santa as a family, the boys enjoy the story and had fun receiving the "first gift of Christmas".
It was a great evening. The train was really neat - a 1934 commuter passenger car with steam heat! And the boys were at the perfect age to sense the magic of it all.

Okay, that just looked like TOO much fun!!! The music added so much...love it!! What a fun holiday treat to start the season off with! Hugs and Kisses! Wish Grammy could go too!!
