Jack turns FIVE!

Though I am a few days late in posting it, we had a great time celebrating Jack's fifth birthday this weekend!  Jake and Sarah were with us, which made it extra special. The birthday boy chose to go out for pizza at a local place for his dinner and we had a Hot Wheels themed birthday cake with decorations.  Many of his gifts were Lego sets - which he loves.  He needs help following the directions for each set (which we all get to help out with!) but has a wonderful time creating his own masterpieces with his imagination.  We will wrap up his birthday celebration on Friday, when we have a special event to go to...more on that in a later post!

It was really special for me to remember becoming a mom five years ago.  Jack has been a joy and a challenge right from the start.  He continues to be full of life and a love for learning.  His enthusiasm and eagerness to try new things is contagious.  He loves trains, cars, planes, monster trucks, super heroes, horses, reading, drawing, helping in the kitchen, athletics of any kind, brushing his teeth and loving on his little brothers.  He is amazingly athletic and has great hand-eye coordination.  Not only is he hitting baseballs pretty consistently (and far!), he can throw a football with a spin and take on just about any challenge Josh has for him.  He likes to try to "exercise" like Daddy - doing pushups and lunges and running.  He has a tender heart and shows great empathy for people or situations.  He challenges me on every level - but I am grateful for his strong spirit and for the fact that the Lord uses him to keep me on my toes and keep me humble! 

Jack is tall for his age and almost no one believes he just turned five.  He is 3'11" and weighs 44 pounds - almost into size 6 clothes.  He loves to eat PB&J with Cheetos for lunch, pancakes, pizza, broccoli, oatmeal and chocolate. 

We are so thankful for our Jack - he brings us such delight, watching him grow and explore and learn and share his heart with us.  Thank you, Lord, for the gift of him and for allowing us to be his parents.  Help us know how best to parent and teach and lead this little guy, according to Your will for him!
