Happy Six Months to Joe!

Our baby is half a year old! It is hard to believe. As with all babies, each month brings such new joys and things to watch Joe discover. He may be the sweetest baby on the planet. We must say more than a dozen times a day what a sweet boy he is! His smile and sparkling blue eyes just light up a room and melt hearts.

We had his six month check up this week. Stats are in: 22 pounds 7 ounces and 28 inches long...99th percentile PLUS! He is a big boy and has been nicknamed the "Linebacker" wherever we go.
We also discovered something else at this appointment. For about a month, he's been coughing and wheezing...but not acting miserable. We took him in once to check his ears, since he's had fluid remaining there since his bout of RSV, but it was just an upper airway virus. This time, however, the doctor noticed the wheezing in his lungs and said he has another round of bronchiolitis. Because of his size and strength, he is handling this round much better than the first. A smaller baby would probably be hospitalized. So...we are grateful for our healthy big boy!  But...he has earned the name "Wheezy Joe" around our house!

He has been rolling over from his back to front to reach for toys or get closer to the boys. He LOVES to be engaged with someone or have a toy or book to look at. He listens and watches closely when we have story time and loves to be in the mix with his big brothers. We introduced rice cereal to him last week. He didn't seem to mind it, though he lets us know he's done with his cute pursed lips!

Baby Joe is such a blessing to all of us. Even when he is not feeling well or dealing with virus after virus, his sweet demeanor stays the same. Coming upstairs to get him when he wakes up from a nap, we often find him just playing with his toes and cooing happily...waiting to greet us with a huge smile! We hope you can get a sense of his sweetness in this month's video clip!
