It has been several weeks since we shared some of our family happenings and photos. So, we collected all of July's events for this montage!
The month started out with Josh taking Jake and Sarah on a long, exhausting hike up Sleeping Giant in order to have time with them alone and talk about their attitudes toward one another. His motto is: "If you don't have tender hearts, you'll have tender feet!" :-) (Notice Jake and Sarah's extremely enthused expressions!)
We took field trips to the Kilohana Plantation for a train ride and to the Grove Farm Plantation to see two local examples of old sugar plantation homesteads. We spent two nights at a beach cottage on the Navy Base where Josh works, which was really nice. We had several beach days and time just spent at home - reading, playing Risk, Sarah crocheting, etc. (You'll notice Sarah is missing in several pictures; this is because she had a terrible flu bug for about a week and spent a lot of time in bed recovering.)
At the end of July was the Koloa Plantation Days Celebration here in our little town. They had lots of festivitites to commemorate the old sugar plantation days of Koloa. ONe of the events was a 10K run at Po'ipu Beach that Josh participated in. He won fourth place in his division! ON Saturday, we went to the parade in town and saw lots of old cars (Jack was in heaven) and some typically Hawaiian things like a men's hula group, a children's ukelele group, lots of horses and the Pacific Fleet marching band.
We are really enjoying our summer with the kids. This week, Grandma Barb arrives, so we'll have a whole new series of adventures with her here!! We can't believe we only have about two weeks left with Jake and Sarah. The summer has flown by! But we'll continue to enjoy every moment!

YOU CANNOT MOVE UNTIL I COME VISIT!!! It is so beautiful! How lucky the kids are to get to experiece all of that. Jake and Sarah are getting SO big, and there was a picture of George that I thought was Jack! He is growing so fast. Great montage...made me miss all of you so much!!
Looks like you are all having a great time together. Love George on the boogie board. Jack and George are going to have to teach me how to surf. I think I saw the picture Gentry was taking about. Glad Jake and Sarah got through their hike!
