Our summer came to an end much quicker than I was expecting! So in an effort to "catch up" before we begin school on Monday, I'll begin with a short post about our Fourth of July celebration!
Our town has a special parade each year and our boys were asked to be a part of it for the second time. They were happy to oblige! The theme was "Times Remembered," so we decided to have them wear a range of military uniforms we had that represented the past and current members of the Armed Forces.
Toby wore my uniform from my deployment to Iraq in 2004.
Jack wore a 4th Infantry Division uniform from World War II.
General George wore an Air Force uniform...
...and Joe was our Air Force pilot, "flying" in a plane the boys made with our wagon and card board wings!
The boys were a huge hit! They got standing ovations as they walked silently down the 1/2 mile stretch of Main Street. There were lots of cheers of "good job boys!" or "that's the way to do it, boys!" It was really a special time.
We are grateful for our freedom in this country, and for all those who helped make it possible!
