Hosanna!

One of the highlights of our week and probably the best part about living here on Curacao, is the time we get to spend at a nearby orphanage/hospice run by Dutch missionaries Herman and Bep. They have lived here for 22 years, simply serving as God has called them by loving children others have abandonned or given up hope on because of medical issues. We have had the privilege of worshipping with them on Sundays with a simple, heartfelt service, and we are beginning to form dear relationships with the children and the workers.

Jack, in particular, is in his element. He loves to run around and play with the kids. George is a little more shy, though each time we go, he is warming up. We just love being there and being able to help in small ways as we see needs.

This Sunday, as most of you know, is Palm Sunday. We brought along some palm branches from our back yard and Jack passed them out to the kids, while we sang "Clap Your Hands All Ye People" and the kids waved the branches in the air singing, "Hosanna!" The kids loved it and held onto their palm branches most of the day! Here, the kids are having some "Sunday School" craft time!
Though he doesn't look too happy here, George did enjoy waving his palm branch, too. :-) One of Jack's good buddies is 9-year old Sebastiaan, grandson of Herman and Bep. He's such a good kid - just goofy enough to endear himself to a 3 1/2 year old. He loves practicing English with me and Josh. Some of the precious little ones...George is usually on my lap during the worship time....and 2 1/2 year old Levi isn't far away. He loves "Baby", as he calls George and is constantly trying to give him kisses. Today, George warmed up a little more to the affection and even allowed Levi to sit on my lap with him during the music time! (They both kept trying to feed me and each other muffins!)And here, sweet Mila jumped in for an upclose shot! I love these kids!
And, we thought you might like to have a glimpse of what a worship service is like! What a wonderful thing to be able to sing praise songs to our Lord in English, Papiamentu and Dutch, alongside brothers and sisters in Christ who love Him and serve Him with all their hearts. We are so blessed. Hosanna to our King of Kings!

What a wonderful place you have found down there to worship and to be blessed with all the little ones! Tessa watched this and I told her they were singing to Jesus and she joined in and clapped her hands. She also called for Jack and Georgie cause she thought it was live video feed....silly Tessa. Love you guys!
