Fun on the Farm (Week #1)

Well, we've been on the farm for a little over a week now and we are all enjoying the cooler weather, the relaxed atmosphere and the green, beautiful surroundings!  And...of course time with family.

On our first full day, the kids sat with Josh on the porch and witnessed a powerful thunder/lightning/rain storm!  (This area of Ohio has been blessed with a good amount of rain so the crops are all doing well, even though so many other areas are struggling through drought.)
Josh immediately got to work doing small jobs around the farm....mowing and trimming all of the trees and bushes around the house.  Jack is always happy to help his Daddy!
The boys were happy to bring out the wagon...which has been waiting to be used for two years!
And they tried to give Mr. Darcy a ride, which he was not pleased about.
And then they tried to give big sister Sarah a ride, too!
We spend most of the evening time and long daylight hours outside playing baseball or football.  George is the ball boy...
And Jack is the big hitter.  He is quite a little athlete and hits just about every ball that comes his way! He is in heaven with so much yard to run and play in!
And so is Georgie!
Another favorite play place is under Grandma's kitchen table!
The boys saw their first cicada when Daddy brought one in.  George is squealing with delight, not disgust, in this picture! :-)
Ahhh....grass!  Jack happily rolls in grass after not really seeing it for five months!
George likes to pluck petals from the wildflowers....
...but Jack enjoys identifying them with our wildflower book! (This is Queen Anne's lace.)
Little farmer boy.
Playing in the back of the truck.
And finding a most interesting discovery!
Leaves with little moss balls growing on the backs of them!
Jack enjoys blowing bubbles...
George enjoys eating bubbles.  Sometimes the bubbles come out of his mouth when he laughs.  :-)
It has been so nice to be around our sweet cats again....Mr. Darcy and Annabelle.  They've had a good home here on the farm and Darcy has become quite an outdoorsman.  They aren't sure what to think of all these little people...but Jack finally got close enough to pet them.
And...after all that playing and discovering...who wouldn't need a nap?  (George crawled up on the ottoman by himself and fell asleep when I ran to the store with Barb today.  This is how we found him.)
A good spot for Jack to nap, too.  Living in furnished homes for the last year and a half, we've missed having our own, comfortable couches!  There is something cozy about a soft couch and a quilt to curl up with.

Check back soon to see what Jake and Sarah have been busy doing!

Your family is meant to be on a farm for as much as they love the outdoors. Great pictures! I agree, love the bubbles with George :)
