One of the boys' favorite things to do is take a drive in the old Ford pickup down around the corn fields and drive through a pasture, collecting grasshoppers on the windshield! (Ah, country living!)
We helped Grandma weed one of her flower beds in order to plant our fall favorites, Chrysanthemums. In the meantime, the boys discovered the joy of earthworms!!
And then got back to the business of digging.
We all take advantage of the cool, shady grass to sit and play in. (I even learned how to mow it all with Barb's fancy zero-turn mower!) Jack lays down and swings his arms and says, "Mommy, feel how cool and nice it is!"
Grandma only planted some sweet corn this summer instead of her usual feast of garden veggies....but that corn was delicious! And the boys learned how to shuck it. Jack, with his usual serious intensity, did a fine job!
And George...well...he couldn't quite decide what to do with it.....
...so he just ate it, right off the cob! :-)
Jack is really enjoying the outside grass time. Being in this kind of environment and weather really feeds all of our souls, especially after having a gravelly, cactus-filled, dry yard in Curacao!
And, after all our outdoor adventures...the boys take a bath! (Another luxury we don't have in Curacao where there are only European showers.)

Looks like so much fun. Can you send some of that cool weather our way too?? Alas, poor Jacob would not be able to join his cousins in grass fun due to his allergies, but he does like eating corn right off the uncooked cob like Georgie!
Ahhh, country living...you make it look wonderful and blissful and relaxing...when we all know there is LOTS OF WORK!!! Jack shucking corn cracks me up...he goes from looking like a beach Surfer Kid to a Farmer Boy all in a season! Enjoy the blessing of the land and your time there. Love and miss you all, Ma...Gram
