Another whirlwind month has passed and has left us finally settled in Ohio! After returning home from Phoenix, we had just a week to pack up our household and head for Ohio. We had a few bumps along the way...including a broken air conditioner just a day and a half before we were scheduled to leave Texas. We were left in an un-air conditioned house, in record-setting June temperatures, packing up a moving truck! Whew! We are all glad those days are over. Gentry was a huge help and we couldn't have made the move without her.
It was sad saying goodbye to our church family and neighbors in Texas, but we were all ready to get to Ohio. It has been an adjustment settling into the farmhouse, but we are glad to be together as a family and we are already having wonderful, memory-making moments. Jake, Sarah and Jack all seem to thrive on the farm.
Gentry stayed with us in Ohio for a week before heading back to Phoenix...just long enough to help us unpack, spend some relaxing days on the farm, visit Ohio Amish country and other things. Soon after Gentry left, we picked up our friend Joe Cicchinelli from the airport and had him stay with us for a few days. Kamie has been helping him edit his World War II memoirs. The whole family got a chance to see Joe in his hometown of Massillon, Ohio...where we saw all the homes he lived in, the mail route he worked after the war, etc. Jake and Sarah spent time asking Joe all about his time as a German POW. We have been emphasizing to them what an unique opporutnity they have to meet history...because very few in their generation will ever really know World War II veterans once they reach adulthood.
Jack is continuing to grow and learn and develop right before our eyes. He loves trying new foods....anything and everything mom has! He's tried a lemon, a pickle, teething biscuits and all sorts of things. Sarah decided to get her hair cut...she is happy to look like the American Girl doll Kit! Jake, on the other hand, is determined to let his hair grow this summer and is looking a bit like a hippy! We've had fun in these 60-degree temperatures lately, taking family walks into the fields and down to the woods, identifying wilflowers and picking black raspberries. These are the things we treasure about this wonderful place. We all know Terry would be very pleased to see us all here together.
We had so many pictures, we had to put them in another video montage in order for you to see them all! We hope you enjoy it...and that it makes you want to come to Ohio for a visit sometime soon!
Love you!

Wow, what a whirlwind of a month. Sarah hair looks so cute. Adam's favorite pic was of Mr. Dinkleman...aka Mr. Darcy on the dash. The farm pics look so beautiful, can't wait to someday see it for ourselves. Love and miss you!
What a great montage...makes me want to do road trips and pick berries...as hard as this move was, it sure seems like it is a dream place to live...a farm...what a great place to raise kids! You're right...Terry would be beaming to think you are all there! Wish we could join you...will look forward to a visit in the very near future!
Love, Mom...Grammy
