Mystery Drive #1

We've decided to start a new summer tradition! After reading an article in the paper about a mom who took her kids on "mystery drives", we decided to do the same - starting today!

We drove to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary. Is there a better place to go for a birding family??!! :-) It was a wonderful experience. The sanctuary has rescued dozens of birds who would not survive in the wild due to injury or having been illegally raised in close quarters by humans. There are several types of owls, hawks, falcons and even a Bald Eagle named Socrates. Our favorite part was the Songbird Aviary where we were able to meet some birds up close as they ate some meal worms we had. We saw two Cedar Waxwings, a Baltimore Oriole and many others.

Pay close attention to the shots of Sarah, especially the last few of us as a family! She was a good sport, but didn't seem to enjoy having the birds fly so closely to her. Her facial expressions are priceless!

It is so good to be together as a family again. We are enjoying every day we get with Jake and Sarah.

Sarah's face is priceless! Glad you had a good time. I was hoping to see Jake with really long hippie hair. Maybe next summer.
