First bites, more fun with the camera and Jack's crazy hair!

Well, we've embarked on that next fun stage of babyhood...first solid foods! George has been giving us every signal that he is ready. He practically jumps out of my arms trying to get the apple I'm eating or drink from my cup! So, we tried our first rice cereal. I think he more enjoyed sitting up feeling like a big boy than he did the taste of the stuff. He gave us some cute grimmaces as he tasted it. We had more luck with a little bit of mashed banana. Now he knows how to clench his lips together when the spoon is coming close...so we have to work on some creative ways to get him to eat!

He also loves drinking water from a little cup of his own...instead of grabbing for Jack's cup! He actually took it forcefully the first time, grabbed both handles, put it to his mouth and was surprised by the water that came out! He knew just what to do!

Spring must be spider season in Hawaii. We have spider webs literally all around the outside of our house - from the banana spiders (featured in our last post) and from these funny looking guys - the Asian Spiny Backed Spiders. They are very tiny but produce large elaborate web colonies with others of their species. Josh cleaned off our front porch this morning, placed Jack's bike back on the porch and within a half hour or so, a spider had started making a new web already!

Another industrious creature we were able to watch (and get a close up of) was this crab at our new favorite beach. He descended into his hole, came out and paused a few seconds to look at us suspiciously, heaved a claw-full of sand away from the hole and descended quickly again.

This was me trying to get an action shot of him throwing the left claw-full of sand. Such amazing little creatures! God was so creative in all the things He made!

And speaking of creatures...this is Jack with post-nap hair. I had to include these shots...especially for Grammy. I think your genes run in him, Mom! :-)
